Schumer and Gillibrand Advocate for Renaming Buffalo Post Office in Honor of William J. Donovan
U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand are urging Congress to pass a bill to rename a Buffalo, New York post office in honor of William J. Donovan, known as the 'Father of American Intelligence.' The proposed legislation, H.R. 1706, seeks to designate the U.S. Postal Service facility at 1200 William Street as the William J. Donovan Post Office Building. Donovan, a World War I and II hero and Medal of Honor recipient, was instrumental in establishing the Office of Strategic Services, the precursor to the CIA. The senators emphasize that renaming the post office would honor Donovan's legacy and contributions to national security.
