World War II Veteran 'Bazooka' Joe Pietroforte, 107, Continues to Dance
World War II veteran Joe Pietroforte, known as 'Bazooka' Joe, celebrated his 107th birthday in February and remains active by dancing weekly at a local bar in Los Angeles. Pietroforte, who earned the Silver Star for his valor during the Battle of the Bulge, continues to enjoy swing dancing, a passion he developed after returning from the war. Despite his age, he maintains a rigorous dance schedule, crediting his dance partner for keeping him active. Pietroforte's contributions during the war included using a rocket launcher to eliminate enemy tanks, which earned him his nickname and accolades.
