China's Renewable Energy Plan Set to Influence Global Energy Transition
China has unveiled its Renewable Energy Development Plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), which is considered one of the most significant clean energy blueprints globally. The plan, issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration, aims to increase renewable energy consumption to around 1.8 billion tonnes of standard coal equivalent by 2030. It also targets expanding installed renewable power capacity to 3.5 billion kilowatts and prioritizes large-scale energy storage and modern electricity grids. China's progress in renewable energy has been substantial, with the country leading in the manufacturing of solar panels, wind turbines, and battery technologies.
