Donald Erickson's Passing Marks the End of a Veteran's Legacy in Minnesota
Donald S. Erickson, a Vietnam War veteran and long-time employee of the Erie Mining Company, passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Eveleth, Minnesota, Erickson was a graduate of Gilbert High School and attended Eveleth Jr. College. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1966. Following his military service, Erickson worked at the Erie Mining Company, eventually retiring as an instrument repair technician after 35 years. Known for his love of the outdoors, Erickson enjoyed activities such as hunting, fishing, and skiing. He is survived by his brother, Ray Erickson, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for April 30, 2026, at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert, Minnesota.
