Consumers Energy Reports Widespread Power Outages Across Montcalm County Due to Equipment Issue
Thousands of Consumers Energy customers in Montcalm County, Michigan, experienced power outages on Friday afternoon. The Consumers Energy outage map indicated multiple outages, each affecting over 1,000 customers, in areas including Greenville, Sheridan, Sidney, and Stanton. These outages began sometime after 1 p.m. and were still impacting a significant portion of the county as of 3:46 p.m. Smaller, additional outages were also reported in the Greenville area. A Consumers Energy representative, Johnson, stated that the outages were caused by an equipment issue, and crews were actively working to resolve the problem. As of the reported time, Consumers Energy noted 9,603 customers affected across 46 outages throughout its service territory.
