University of Oxford Launches Genomics-Led Program to Improve Childhood Cancer Treatments
The University of Oxford has initiated a new program aimed at enhancing treatments for childhood cancer through the integration of genomics, data science, and clinical research. This initiative, supported by the UK charity Little Princess Trust, seeks to develop safer and more effective therapies for pediatric oncology. Professor Isidro Cortés-Ciriano has been appointed as the first Little Princess Trust Professor of Paediatric Oncology to lead this effort. The program focuses on precision medicine, tailoring treatments to the genetic and molecular characteristics of each tumor. Oxford's platform, with over 900 cancer researchers, aims to accelerate the transition from discovery to patient treatment, emphasizing reduced toxicity in therapies.
