Philippines Halcon Prospect Gas Resource Triples to 8 Tcf, Attracting International Interest
Tetragon Energy has announced a significant increase in the gross mid-case prospective gas resource estimate for the Halcon exploration prospect offshore the Philippines. The estimate has more than tripled from 2.6 Tcf to 8.0 Tcf. This revised assessment follows further evaluation of seismic data provided by the Philippines Department of Energy and geological comparisons with recent deepwater discoveries in Indonesia and Malaysia. Tetragon operates Service Contract 80 (SC 80) with a 37.5% working interest, alongside Sunda Energy (37.5%), PXP Energy Corp. (12.5%), and Philodrill Corp. (12.5%). The estimated geological chance of success for Halcon has also increased from 18% to 24%.
