NSW Government Downgrades Impact of Alleged Treasury Data Breach, No Projects Affected
The New South Wales (NSW) government has downgraded the impact of an alleged data breach involving the Treasury department. Initially reported last month, the breach involved unauthorized access to over 5,600 sensitive documents from multiple departments. An employee from the Treasury's commercial team has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. Following an investigation by a government taskforce, the NSW chief cyber security officer announced that the breach has been contained. The investigation revealed that no active or past government procurement projects have been adversely affected by the breach.
