Germany Expels Russian Diplomats Amid Espionage Concerns
Germany has expelled approximately 400 Russian citizens, including over 80 diplomats, since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The expulsions are part of Germany's efforts to counter espionage activities conducted under diplomatic cover. The German Foreign Ministry has emphasized its stance against foreign intelligence operations disguised as diplomatic missions. The Russian embassy in Berlin is considered a hub for espionage, and staffing levels have significantly decreased since the start of the conflict. Investigations have revealed that several Russian diplomats were linked to intelligence agencies, further justifying Germany's actions.
