Los Angeles Faces Homelessness Challenge Ahead of 2028 Olympics
As Los Angeles prepares for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, officials are grappling with the potential displacement of hundreds of unhoused individuals living near competition venues. Security perimeters established by the U.S. Secret Service could force people out of these areas, but there is currently no plan for relocation or funding to address the issue. The city has one of the largest unsheltered populations in the nation, and the Olympics present both logistical and ethical challenges in managing homelessness.
