IRS Proposes Regulations for Trump Accounts' Eligible Investments
The Treasury Department and the IRS have issued proposed regulations concerning eligible investments for Trump Accounts, a new investment vehicle established by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. These accounts are designed to help children accumulate wealth from an early age and are available to any U.S. child under 18 with a Social Security number. Children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, are eligible for a $1,000 federal seed money contribution, irrespective of family income. As of late July, 7 million Trump Accounts have been opened, with 1 million newborns receiving the federal contribution.
