Steven Spielberg Funds Educational Program to Transform Post-High School Summer
Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw's private foundation is the primary financial supporter of the American Exchange Project, an educational initiative aimed at transforming the summer after high school graduation into a period of personal growth and cultural exchange. The program, established in 2019, facilitates two-week domestic exchanges for recent graduates, allowing them to experience life in different parts of the United States. The initiative has raised over $30 million in philanthropic commitments, with Spielberg and Capshaw contributing more than $14 million. The program's goal is to broaden students' perspectives by exposing them to diverse social and economic environments, thereby reducing cultural and geographical divides.
