Nebraska Health Department Confirms Cyclosporiasis Cases Linked to National Outbreak
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed 92 cases of cyclosporiasis in the state, linked to a national outbreak associated with iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that the outbreak has affected multiple states, with over 6,000 cases nationwide. The contaminated lettuce has been removed from store shelves, and health officials believe the outbreak is nearing its end. Despite the low risk to the general public, Nebraskans are advised to maintain safe food handling practices. Symptoms of cyclosporiasis include diarrhea, loss of appetite, and fatigue, with an incubation period of up to two weeks.
