NATO Develops Commercial Space Strategy to Enhance Alliance Operations
NATO has formulated a Commercial Space Strategy aimed at bolstering cooperation with the commercial space industry. This initiative seeks to improve access to commercial capabilities and integrate innovative solutions into alliance operations. According to Dylan Browne, General Manager of the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), military satellite communications remain a foundational element of NATO’s SATCOM architecture, providing secure and resilient communication for various alliance activities, from strategic nuclear deterrence to deployed forces. NCIA is actively working on enhancing terminals, spectrum efficiency, and protected communications to reinforce SATCOM as a core operational component.
