North Country Students Engage in Women in Law Event to Explore Legal Careers
Students from various school districts in the North Country attended a Women in Law program at the Clinton County Government Center. The event aimed to introduce high school girls to potential careers in law by featuring women in high-ranking legal positions. The program, initiated by Douglas E. Gerhardt and Katrin Falco, has expanded statewide, with over 1,200 students participating this year. The panel included professionals like Supreme Court Justice Allison McGahay and Clinton County Attorney Jacqueline Kelleher, who shared their diverse career paths and experiences in the legal field. The event highlighted the increasing presence of women in law, with the American Bar Association noting a rise in female lawyers from 34% in 2013 to 39% in 2023.
