Heat Wave Intensifies Wildfires in France and Spain, Straining Resources
A severe heat wave is exacerbating wildfires in France and Spain, posing significant challenges to firefighting efforts. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 42 degrees Celsius, creating extreme conditions that have already led to the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of people. In France, a major wildfire near Bordeaux has burned 42,000 hectares, while in Spain, fires have forced 60,000 people to flee. The European Union has deployed additional firefighting resources, but the situation remains critical as climate change continues to drive more frequent and intense heat waves.
