Study Reveals Discrepancy Between Women's Menopause Symptoms and Medical Records
A recent study published in JAMA Network Open highlights a significant gap between the symptoms women report during menopause and what is documented in medical records. The research compared top posts from a menopause community on Reddit with two million clinical records. It found that cognitive symptoms like brain fog and mood changes were mentioned in about 20% of Reddit posts but only appeared in 5% of clinical notes. This discrepancy suggests that many symptoms women experience are not being adequately captured or addressed in medical settings. The study emphasizes that these symptoms are not random but often share underlying causes, which are not being recognized in standard medical consultations.
