Weihai's Fishing Tackle Exports Surge Amid Global Demand for Outdoor Equipment
Weihai City in Shandong Province, China, has emerged as a significant global hub for fishing tackle production, accounting for nearly 60% of the world's fishing rod market. In the first two months of 2026, the city's fishing tackle exports reached 820 million yuan, marking an 18.4% increase year-on-year. This growth is attributed to a rising demand for outdoor sports equipment, particularly fishing products, as spring consumption strengthens. Weihai hosts nearly 5,000 fishing tackle manufacturing and trading firms, forming an industrial cluster that supports the expansion of these products overseas. Shandong Weihai Huanqiu Fishing Tackle Industrial Co., Ltd., a key player in the sector, has been producing carbon-fiber and fiberglass fishing rods for over 40 years, exporting to more than 50 countries. The company reported exports of 170 million yuan in the first quarter of 2026, with orders scheduled through June.
