The Huntsville Center for Technology (HCT) has been highlighted in a Fortune article for its efforts in addressing the growing demand for skilled trades and technical workers in an AI-driven economy. The center, which serves approximately 700 students, offers hands-on technical training in fields such as industrial maintenance and electrical work. This recognition comes as the U.S. manufacturing sector faces a projected need for up to 3.8 million workers by 2033, with nearly 1.9 million positions potentially going unfilled due to labor shortages. HCT's INDTECH program, developed in collaboration with Toyota Alabama, is a key component of its workforce development strategy, aiming to meet the specific needs of local industries.
