Severe Storms Cause Widespread Damage and Power Outages in Maryland
A powerful line of thunderstorms swept across Maryland, causing significant damage and power outages. The storms, which included wind gusts up to 70 mph, resulted in large hail, downed trees, and flash flooding. Over 26,000 Baltimore Gas & Electric customers were left without power. A tornado watch was issued for several counties, and a flood warning was in effect for low-lying areas in Baltimore City and surrounding counties. The severe weather also led to the temporary suspension of air traffic at Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport. In Baltimore, floodwaters submerged streets, trapping vehicles and causing significant disruptions.
