Bear in New Mexico Electrocuted After Climbing Power Pole
In New Mexico, a bear tragically died after climbing a power pole and being electrocuted. The incident occurred near the town of Gladstone, approximately 168 miles east of Santa Fe. Shannon Mullens, a traveler on Highway 56, noticed the bear struggling to maintain its balance atop the pole. Despite efforts to alert wildlife officials, the bear was electrocuted before a rescue could be attempted. The event quickly gained attention online, with video footage capturing the bear's precarious situation. Wildlife experts noted that bears sometimes climb poles, mistaking them for trees, especially when frightened by humans or traffic.
