Volkswagen Group of America Recalls Nearly 3 Million VW and Audi Vehicles Over Steering Screw Issue
Volkswagen Group of America has initiated a precautionary recall affecting 2.86 million Volkswagen and Audi vehicles globally, with nearly 209,000 vehicles impacted in the U.S. The recall addresses a potential issue with a screw connecting the left-hand-drive steering rack to the subframe. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), corrosion at this connection point could lead to a fracture of the bolt head. If this occurs, continued stress could result in a fracture of the steering rack housing, potentially causing a loss of steering capability. The affected vehicles include Audi Q3 models manufactured from October 2017 through May 2024, and Volkswagen Tiguan, Touran, Golf, Golf Variant, and Caddy models produced between September 2013 and July 2024.
