Comporium Expands Fiber Network in Rural South Carolina, Enhancing Connectivity
Comporium has announced the expansion of its fiber network by an additional 138 miles, reaching 1,255 locations across several rural counties in South Carolina. This $7.8 million project, funded in part by grants from the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act, aims to improve internet connectivity in areas such as Batesburg, Buford, Chesnee, Edgemoor, Gilbert, Lancaster, Liberty Hill, Pelion, Ridge Spring, Rock Hill, Swansea, and Tradesville. As part of this initiative, Comporium has also partnered with the Town of Chesnee to provide public Wi-Fi at Cada Park. This expansion is part of a broader effort to enhance broadband access in underserved areas, addressing the digital divide that affects rural communities.
