Oregon Cold Case Solved: Victim Identified After 50 Years
The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office has identified the remains of Armes Henry Lahti, solving a cold case that has remained unsolved for over 50 years. Lahti's skeletal remains were discovered in 1972 near Highway 101 in Coos County. The identification was made possible through forensic genetic genealogy, a breakthrough in the investigation. Lahti, born in 1909, was believed to have been a homicide victim. The case had previously been hindered by insufficient DNA for analysis, but recent advancements allowed for a new DNA profile to be created, leading to the identification.
