Senator Roger Wicker Celebrates Golden Triangle Regional Airport Expansion for Economic Growth
The Golden Triangle Regional Airport (GTRA) in Mississippi has completed a significant terminal expansion, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by U.S. 1st District Rep. Trent Kelly, Sen. Roger Wicker, and Golden Triangle LINK CEO Meryl Fisackerly. The expansion includes an 8,200-square-foot waiting area, two escalators, an elevator, and a jet bridge, replacing the previous outdoor ramp. This development is expected to enhance the airport's capacity to serve larger aircraft, thereby boosting the region's economic development by attracting more business executives. The $12 million project was funded by the Federal Aviation Administration and a state grant. The expansion is seen as a strategic move to increase the airport's economic impact, which has already contributed $275 million to the region.
