UK Hosts Virtual Summit to Address Strait of Hormuz Crisis
The United Kingdom is set to host a virtual meeting involving 35 nations to address the ongoing crisis in the Strait of Hormuz. This summit, led by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, aims to discuss diplomatic and political measures to ensure safe passage through the waterway, which has been effectively closed by Iranian forces. The meeting will focus on restoring freedom of navigation, ensuring the safety of ships and seafarers, and resuming the movement of essential commodities. The UK, along with countries like the UAE, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands, is committed to safeguarding this critical trade route.
