U.S. Rep. Bob Latta Co-Sponsors BEDROCK Act to Boost American Biomanufacturing and Reduce China Dependence
U.S. Rep. Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, along with Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Michigan, has introduced the bipartisan Biomanufacturing Excellence, Domestic Resilience, Output and Competitive Know-how (BEDROCK) Act. This legislation aims to transform products invented in America into products manufactured within the country. The primary goals of the BEDROCK Act are to bolster American manufacturing jobs, fortify domestic supply chains, and decrease the nation's reliance on China for biomanufacturing. The act proposes several key measures, including designating a senior Department of Commerce official to spearhead efforts in strengthening U.S. biomanufacturing competitiveness. It also mandates an assessment of critical supply-chain inputs, domestic production capacity, commercialization hurdles, and the extent of reliance on China and other foreign adversaries.
