Flood Watch and Rising Water Levels in Cheboygan County, Michigan
Cheboygan County, Michigan, is currently experiencing rapidly rising water levels at the Cheboygan Dam, which have reached the 'Ready' mark. This situation has prompted officials to issue a Flood Watch for the entire area, excluding Isabella County, due to the combination of melting snow and potential heavy rain. The water levels are reported to be within 15 inches below the top of the dam, necessitating the addition of more pumps to manage the situation. In Emmet County, a culvert failure has led to the closure of part of M-119, disrupting the Tunnel of Trees route. Additionally, the US-23 bascule bridge in Cheboygan has been raised to address flooding and erosion concerns.
