Mizzou Researchers Find Routine Stability Enhances Health in Older Adults
Researchers at the University of Missouri have found that maintaining a stable daily routine can significantly improve physical and mental health in older adults. The study highlights that consistent timing in everyday activities is linked to reductions in physical pain and depressive symptoms, even when sleep quality remains unchanged. Insomnia is common among older adults, and the study suggests that regular schedules may help synchronize the body's internal timing system, known as circadian regulation, which coordinates sleep-wake timing, mood-related processes, and other physiological functions.
