A recent study presented at the American Society for Nutrition's Nutrition 2026 meeting suggests that limiting eating to an 8- or 9-hour window per day and stopping four hours before bed can improve cognitive skills in older adults. The study involved 47 overweight and obese women aged 50 to 79, who participated in a six-month weight loss program. Participants who adhered to the time-restricted eating schedule showed significant improvements in spatial planning and problem-solving abilities compared to those who ate over a typical 12-hour period. The research indicates that aligning meal times with the body's natural circadian rhythms may enhance cognitive function.
