Germany Arrests Kazakhstan Citizen for Alleged Russian Espionage Amid Tensions
German authorities have arrested a Kazakh man, identified as Sergej K, in Berlin on suspicion of espionage for Russia. According to the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office, Sergej K has been in continuous contact with Russian intelligence since at least May of the previous year. He allegedly provided his Russian handler with details about German military aid for Ukraine, including information on companies involved in developing drones and robotic systems. Additionally, he is accused of sending photos of NATO military convoys and public buildings in Berlin. This arrest is part of a series of espionage and disinformation plots that German authorities claim to have uncovered since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The German Federal Foreign Office has condemned these actions, stating that such threats and espionage are unacceptable.
