Heat Advisory Issued for Georgia as Heat Index Reaches 111°F
Georgia is experiencing a surge of dangerous summer heat, with a Heat Advisory in effect for metro Atlanta and much of north Georgia on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The advisory is active from noon to 8 p.m. due to a combination of high temperatures and humidity, which are expected to push heat index values between 105°F and 111°F (40.6°C to 43.9°C). Cities such as Augusta and Savannah are forecasted to experience the highest heat index values, reaching 111°F (43.9°C) and 110°F (43.3°C), respectively. Actual air temperatures will range from 91°F (32.8°C) in Blue Ridge to near 100°F (37.8°C) in Augusta. The National Weather Service warns that the high humidity will exacerbate the heat, making outdoor activities potentially hazardous.
