Western European Airlines Lead Fleet Utilization Amidst Strategic Orders
The Farnborough International Airshow in Hampshire, 2026, highlights the fleet utilization strategies of major Western European airline groups. Ryanair leads in flight numbers, having recently received its last Boeing 737-8-200, with plans to introduce 150 Boeing 737-10s starting in 2027. EasyJet, with the lowest flight numbers, is set to expand its fleet with over 270 Airbus aircraft, primarily A321neos, to replace older A319s. Lufthansa Group, despite terminating its Cityline brand and removing MHIRJ CRJs due to rising fuel costs, remains a leader among full-service carriers. IAG and Air France/KLM are also modernizing their fleets, with significant aircraft orders aimed at maintaining or slightly increasing their operational capacities.
