Michigan Woman Pleads Guilty to $500,000 Medicare Fraud Scheme
Yolanda Matthews, a 58-year-old woman from Farmington Hills, Michigan, has pleaded guilty to a Medicare fraud scheme involving over $539,000 in false claims. Matthews admitted to billing Medicare for psychotherapy services that were never provided at her adult day care center. She submitted fraudulent claims for services during periods when beneficiaries were hospitalized, used the names of former employees, and even billed for services to deceased individuals. This case is part of the 2026 National Health Care Fraud Takedown, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat healthcare fraud. Matthews faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for November 18, 2026.
