Texas Water Development Board Prioritizes IT Modernization Amidst New Water-Use Enforcement Duties
The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has initiated a comprehensive enterprise IT modernization effort. This initiative encompasses infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, data management, and digital services. A key aspect of this modernization is an assessment, valued at approximately $1.7 million, which identifies the agency's water-use reporting platform as an immediate priority for upgrades. This technological overhaul comes as the TWDB faces increased responsibilities, including new enforcement and coordination duties related to water-use data. Governor Greg Abbott recently directed the agency to enforce water-use reporting requirements for major water users, such as data centers.
