Raleigh Police Charge Driver with DWI and Felony Death After Fatal Crash
In Raleigh, North Carolina, a tragic vehicle crash resulted in the deaths of two passengers late Saturday night. The incident occurred on S. New Hope Road when a silver Toyota RAV4, driven by 19-year-old Jonathan De Loera Olmos, was reportedly speeding northbound near Rogers Lane. The vehicle lost control, ran into the median, and collided with a small tree. The impact caused the SUV to slide sideways and hit a larger tree, ultimately overturning and coming to rest in the opposite lanes. Both passengers in the vehicle succumbed to their injuries. The driver, Olmos, was taken to a hospital and has been charged with driving while impaired and felony death by motor vehicle. The road remained closed as investigators continued to process the scene, and motorists were advised to use alternate routes.
