USPS Honors Linda McCartney with Memorial Stamp Collection
The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has issued a pane of memorial stamps honoring Linda McCartney, recognizing her multifaceted career as a photographer, musician, cookbook author, and animal rights activist. A dedication ceremony for the stamps was held at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The collection features five of McCartney's still life and landscape photographs, including 'Shadow. Sussex' (1984), 'Sunflowers' (mid-1990s), 'Through a Glass Teapot' (1996), 'Carnation. Sussex' (1985), and 'Cherries, Antigua' (1969). The selvage of the stamp pane includes a 1992 self-portrait of McCartney behind her camera. Postmaster General David Steiner praised McCartney's enduring art and her heart-led advocacy, while her daughter, Mary McCartney, described her mother as a pioneer who was ahead of her time.
