Notre Dame Graduate Reflects on Entrepreneurship Support in South Bend and South Africa
Justin Hur, a 2026 Notre Dame graduate, shared insights from his experience supporting entrepreneurs in both South Bend and South Africa through the McKenna Center’s Collaboration Hub and the Entrepreneurship and Empowerment in South Africa program. Hur emphasized that effective support goes beyond business fundamentals like pricing models and balance sheets, focusing instead on understanding the entrepreneur as a whole person, considering their resources, responsibilities, preferences, and circumstances. He recounted instances where technically correct business solutions, such as a sales-tracking spreadsheet, proved useless because they didn't align with the entrepreneur's real-world context, like not owning a laptop.
