Westerman and House Armed Services Chair Visit Highland Industrial Park Amid Workforce and Defense Growth
U.S. Representative Bruce Westerman and House Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers recently toured Highland Industrial Park in East Camden, Arkansas, to assess workforce readiness amid significant job growth and plant expansion. The park, home to numerous aerospace and defense manufacturers, has seen hundreds of jobs and millions in investments. Westerman highlighted the quality of the local workforce and the role of Southern Arkansas University in training employees for new positions. Additionally, Westerman discussed the potential for domestic lithium production in Arkansas, aiming to reduce reliance on China. He also mentioned a new federal initiative, 'Project Vault,' to establish critical mineral reserves.
