FDA Recalls Whole Foods Minestrone Soup Due to Undeclared Shellfish Risk
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of Whole Foods Market Kitchen Minestrone Soup due to the presence of undeclared crustacean shellfish, specifically shrimp. This recall affects 24-ounce cups of the soup distributed across several U.S. regions, including the South, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic. The soup was available in Whole Foods stores and online through Amazon. The recall was initiated after a single in-store cup was found to contain shrimp, posing a risk to consumers with shellfish allergies. The affected product is marked with lot code 1762181 and a use-by date of May 27, 2026. No illnesses have been reported so far, but the FDA warns that consuming the soup could lead to serious or life-threatening allergic reactions for those with shellfish allergies. Consumers are advised to return the product for a full refund.
