Swedish Study Highlights Increasing Driver Distraction from Touchscreens
A Swedish study has raised concerns about the increasing distraction caused by touchscreens in modern vehicles. The study, conducted by the magazine Vi Bilägare, found that drivers of vehicles equipped with touchscreens are more distracted compared to those using traditional physical controls. The study involved testing various vehicles on a closed circuit, where drivers were tasked with simple operations like adjusting climate control and audio settings. Results showed that modern vehicles required more attention, with drivers covering significantly longer distances while distracted compared to a 2005 Volvo V70 with physical buttons.
