Dr. P. Patrick Leahy, Former AGI Executive Director and Geoscientist, Passes Away
Dr. P. Patrick Leahy, a distinguished geoscientist and former Executive Director of the American Geosciences Institute (AGI), has passed away. Leahy dedicated 32 years of his career to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), where he served as Associate Director for Geology and briefly as Acting Director. He earned his undergraduate degrees in geology and geophysics from Boston College and a Ph.D. in geology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, specializing in hydrogeology and regional groundwater resources. In 2007, he took on the leadership role at the American Geosciences Institute, significantly expanding its global reach and influence within the geosciences community. The AGI has expressed deep gratitude for his years of leadership and service, acknowledging his commitment to Earth sciences, public service, and advancing scientific understanding.
