Mason City Hosts Prairie Rock Trails Bike Fest to Boost Outdoor Recreation Tourism
Mason City is set to host the Prairie Rock Trails Bike Fest, a three-day event celebrating the opening of a new destination bike park. The event, which begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, aims to attract mountain biking enthusiasts and spectators. The bike park, modeled after the Railyard in Rogers, Arkansas, features a variety of terrains suitable for all skill levels, including a kids' zone and progressive jump features. The park was developed on the site of the former North End Decker Packing Plant and connects to a network of mountain biking trails and parkland. The Iowa Economic Development Authority provided a $4.5 million grant to support the project, covering 40% of the costs. The International Mountain Bicycling Association has designated Mason City as a 2026 Trail Town, recognizing its commitment to trail development.
