U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer Faces Challenger Case Dixon in Alabama's Special Primary
U.S. Representative Gary Palmer, a Republican from Hoover, Alabama, is seeking his seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He faces a challenge from Case Dixon, a first-time candidate and physical therapist assistant, in the upcoming special primary election for Alabama's 6th Congressional District. This district includes parts of Jefferson, Talladega, Elmore, Shelby, Bibb, Chilton, and Autauga counties. The special primary was called by Governor Kay Ivey following a U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing the state to use a congressional map passed by the Legislature in 2023. This map had previously been struck down as racially discriminatory. Palmer, who has served for 12 years, did not respond to accusations from Dixon regarding federal spending and national debt. Dixon aims to address affordability and reduce federal spending, accusing Palmer of exacerbating everyday expenses through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a tax cut package passed last summer.
