Orange Park Farmers Market Secures Full Funding Amidst Budget Concerns and Amendment 3 Uncertainty
The Orange Park Farmers’ & Arts Market in Florida will remain fully funded for the fiscal year 2026–27, despite earlier discussions about potential reductions due to a projected budget gap and concerns over Amendment 3. Town officials initially faced a budget shortfall exceeding $600,000, leading to speculation among vendors that the market's frequency might be cut from twice a month to once. However, the town successfully reduced this gap through expenditure cuts, position and program adjustments, and other reallocations. Town spokesman Gary Goble confirmed that the adopted budget includes $360,649 in planned use of reserves to balance the budget, which is considered a planned reserve use rather than an operating deficit. The market, held at Town Hall Park on the first and third Sunday of each month, hosts nearly 70 vendors and attracts hundreds of shoppers, playing a vital role in supporting local businesses and the community.
