This decision follows reports of abuse and misconduct at the facility, which have led to multiple criminal investigations over the past decade. The facility, which serves individuals with mental health issues and developmental disabilities, will see a significant reduction in its resident population and available beds. The move is part of a broader plan to repurpose the facility and transition residents to smaller group homes, aligning with nationwide best practices for developmental centers.
