Ferris Wheel Collapse at Indian Fair Injures Dozens, Sparks Safety Concerns
A Ferris wheel at a fair in Uttar Pradesh, India, collapsed, injuring at least 30 people, including 10 critically. The ride, which was overloaded with up to 80 passengers, tipped over after making creaking noises. Despite warnings, the operator continued the ride, leading to the accident. Emergency crews took nearly an hour to rescue the victims. Preliminary investigations suggest the ride was poorly anchored and unable to handle the excess weight. Authorities are investigating potential negligence and safety lapses by the fair operators.
