Stearns County Sheriff's Explorer Program Offers Law Enforcement Training for Teens
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is inviting young individuals aged 14 to 21 to join its Explorer Program, which provides training and experience in law enforcement. Sheriff Steve Soyka, who himself started his career through this program, emphasizes its role in preparing participants for future careers in law enforcement. The program, which has been running since 1976, offers practical training in various law enforcement procedures, including report writing, defensive tactics, and CPR. Participants can remain in the program until they turn 21, gaining leadership experience over time. An informational meeting is scheduled for August 23rd, with the program running from September through May.
