UNDP and South Korea Launch $50 Million Initiative to Aid Crisis-Affected Communities
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Republic of Korea have announced a $50 million initiative aimed at supporting communities affected by conflict and disasters. This initiative, part of the Relief, Employment and Vital Infrastructure for the Vulnerable in Emergencies (R.E.V.I.V.E.) program, targets six countries: Afghanistan, the State of Palestine (Gaza), Myanmar, Sudan, South Sudan, and Syria. The program's goals include restoring essential infrastructure, improving access to basic services, creating emergency employment opportunities, and reviving local economies. The initiative is expected to directly support approximately 1.35 million people and indirectly reach an additional 2.5 million. A key feature of the program is the use of AI-powered RAPIDA assessments to identify recovery priorities and guide interventions.
