Oregon Student Roy Kim Develops Device to Combat Water Scarcity for Farmers
Roy Kim, a 13-year-old student from Oregon, has invented a device that converts air moisture into water, providing a sustainable solution for farmers in drought-prone areas. The device uses a Peltier Module to create a temperature difference, causing water vapor to condense into liquid. This innovation is particularly significant as global warming exacerbates water scarcity, impacting agriculture that relies heavily on natural water sources. Kim's invention has the potential to reduce dependency on depleting water sources, offering a new method for irrigation. He is currently a finalist in the 3M Young Scientist Challenge, a competition encouraging middle school students to solve real-world problems through innovation.
